Equine-Assisted Therapy

At Memory Nurture, we believe meaningful connections, engaging experiences, and emotional wellbeing are essential for living well. Through our partnership with Equine and Human Connections, we offer Equine-Assisted Therapy programs designed to support people living with dementia and neurological conditions, in a calm and therapeutic rural setting in the Perth Hills.

Sessions combine the therapeutic benefits of horses with evidence-based Occupational Therapy approaches to promote well-being, connection, confidence, and emotional regulation.

Shared experiences with family members and carers, is encouraged, helping strengthen relationships and create positive memories together.

Equine-Assisted Therapy may benefit:

  • People living with dementia

How Animal-Assisted Therapy Helps

Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) is supported by growing evidence demonstrating the positive impact animals can have within therapeutic settings. Horses, in particular, are highly intuitive animals whose calm presence and responsiveness can create powerful therapeutic experiences.

Benefits may include:

  • Stress reduction
  • Improved mood and well-being
  • Increased social connection
  • Emotional regulation
  • Enhanced engagement and participation
  • Opportunities for meaningful activity and memory stimulation

Sometimes, the simple presence of an animal can be therapeutic in itself.

Tailored Programs and Workshops

Equine and Human Connections offers carefully curated workshops and personalised programs designed around individual or group goals. Whether someone is looking for emotional support, social engagement, confidence building, or meaningful activity, sessions can be adapted to meet their needs.
