What it is

Occupational therapy helps people living with dementia or memory loss manage everyday tasks safely and independently. Our occupational therapists complete a thorough assessment covering all areas of cognition and daily occupation. Including validated tools such as the Hierarchic Dementia Scale-Revised, which maps a person’s abilities across twenty areas of thinking.

From there we build a practical plan with the person and their family that includes recommendations for home modifications and equipment, memory aids, routine changes, meaningful activity programs and assistive technology that make daily life safer and more manageable.

Who it is for

People recently diagnosed with dementia or younger onset dementia
People experiencing memory or thinking changes at any stage
Families wanting home safety or functional capacity assessment
Carers looking for practical, everyday strategies that work
NDIS participants needing a functional capacity assessment or home and living assessments

What a session looks like

Your first session usually starts with a conversation — about daily routines, what has changed, and what matters most to you. Your therapist then completes an assessment and builds a plan, which might include home visits, practical strategies, activity programs or equipment recommendations. We review regularly as needs change and keep families and referrers in the loop throughout.
